Top Manufacturers go Green to improve consumer product sustainability

Dell have recently joined the Sustainability Consortium along with other top manufacturers such as HP, Intel, IBM, Toshiba to name a few. This will help consumers make better informed decisions when shopping for Greener products as they will know they have been put through thorough testing.

The Sustainability Consortium is an independent group of scientists and engineers from leading academic research institutions around the world who engage with other leading researchers from the NGO, Governmental, and Industrial sectors to build a scientific foundation that drives innovation to improve consumer product sustainability.

The Sustainability Consortium develops transparent methodologies, tools and strategies to drive a new generation of products and supply networks that address environmental, social and economic imperatives.

The Consortium will release results of its initial electronics sector study in the third quarter of 2010. They will initially focus is on laptops, desktops and monitors; the findings will later be applied to a broader set of electronic goods.
